Raj Kakoti felicitated

GUWAHATI, June 3 - The former secretary of the All Assam Taekwondo Association (AATA) Raj Kakoti was felicitated by various sports organisations for being nominated as the secretary general of the Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI).

In a meeting held at the Assam Olympic Association (AOA) conference hall in the RG Baruah Sports Complex here today, organisations like AOA, AATA, Assam Judo Association, Kenoing and Kayaking, Nagaon Sports Association, Hailakandi District Sports Association, Kamrup District Taekwondo Association among others, felicitated Kakoty. However, according to a letter issued by Chetan Anand, president of the TFI, Kakoty has been appointed as ad-hoc secretary general of the body after present secretary general Prabhat Kumar Sharma was suspended.

The decision was taken in a meeting of the TFI Executive Council held in New Delhi on May 31. The felicitation meeting was presided over by AOA joint secretary Pradip Kumar Hazarika.

AATA secretary Hiranya Saikia urged Kakoty to work for the development of the game in the State. Kakoty said, the TFI will approach the central government for its help so that India can produce Olympic medallist. He emphasised on inviting quality coach from abroad and setting up state of the art infrastructure.
