JONAI, March 4 - Torrential rain in Dhemaji, Silapathar and Jonai areas of North Assam and adjoining Siang Valley of Arunachal Pradesh has paralysed normal life in the region.
The region has witnessed frequent and heavy rainfall during this winter and early spring seasons. Vegetable farmers of the region have suffered loss due to frequent rainfall and natural calamities like hailstorm this year.
The shower, which started on Friday night, subsequently turned from heavy to torrential, which paralysed normal life in the region. The rural roads were filled with muddy water and creating immense problem for the commuters, while business activities are badly hampered due to incessant rain.
Inclement weather in the area has obviously caused a dip in the mercury level since the last couple of days. The weather situation was yet to look up, this evening.
