Railway cycling meet ends

GUWAHATI, March 25 � The 50th All India Railways Cycling Championship that began on march 21 at Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education, Tepesia (Sonapur) concluded yesterday.

In the closing function RSVirdi, General Manager, NF Railway was the chief guest and Dr Biswajit Basumatary, Dean of the institute was guest of honour.

In the championship Central Railway won the Best Team title by securing 79 points, North Western Railway secured was the 1st runners-up with 46 points. Host NFR was 4th securing 27 points.

Speaking as the chief guest Virdi lauded all the participants who came from different parts of the country for their participation and making the event a successful one. He expressed his thoughts that sports other than cricket lacks professionalism because of which our country lags far behind in the medals tally of international events.
