GUWAHATI, March 14 � Six different organisations representing the Amri Karbi community, resorted to rail blockade on Friday at Tetelia station demanding ST(H) status and autonomous council for the community.
After more than four hours of protest, the organisations withdrew the blockade on assurances given by government officials that their demands would be placed before the right authority.
However, the organisations have warned that if their demands are not met before the forthcoming Lok Sabha election, the Amri Karbi community would refrain from exercising their franchise.
