Rahul Gandhi, CM asked to withdraw comments

By Correspondent

BARPETA, Dec 20 - Rahul Gandhi and Tarun Gogoi should withdraw their comments regarding the formers entry into the Barpeta Satra during his visit on December 12, demanded the Burha Satriya of Barpeta Satra and the Satra Management committee.

Addressing a press conference on the Satra campus on Saturday morning, the Burha Satriya of Barpeta Satra, Bashistha Deva Sarma termed the reported comments of the Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi that they were denied entry into the Satra as very unfortunate and demanded that such comments should be withdrawn in no time.

The Satra has been dragged into an unnecessary controversy by some responsible leaders., lamented the Burha Satriya and termed the whole controversy as baseless. He made it very clear that Rahul Gandhi neither approached for entry into the Satra nor was he prevented by some one as claimed by him in the Parliament. It is a baseless conjecture which should not happen.

They also feel that such irresponsible statements by responsible persons are likely to malign the image of this holy institutions. The Satra authority even showed the CCTV footage of that day to establish their claims that the leader did not approach the Satra . Who obstructed him when he did not even approach to enter, they questioned and added that when he came in the afternoon, he entered with dignity.

The entire Satra fraternity has condemned the remarks of Rahul Gandhi and Tarun Gogoi and requested them to desist from making such comments in the future. They also requested them to accord due honour to holy institutions like the Barpeta Satra.
