GAURIPUR, June 12 - The Dhubri branch of the Asam Sahitya Sabha in association with the Dhubri district Sanskritik Mahasabha will observe Rabha Divas with a two-day programme on June 19-20.
On June 19, competitions on Rabha songs will be held in the afternoon in three groups. On June 20, the flag of the Asam Sahitya Sabha will be hoisted by the president and the smriti tarpan will be performed by offering floral tributes to the revolutionary hero Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha.
In the afternoon, the memorial meeting and the prize distribution will be chaired by Udayan Chakravarty, president of the Dhubri branch Sahitya Sabha. Zakir Hussain, secretary will explain the objectives of the memorial meet. Dr Upendrajit Sharma, president of the Dhubri Zila Sahitya Sabha, Prof Debendra Nath Sharma, president of the Dhubri Gadadhar Kavi Chakra, Hemen Chakrabarty, assistant secretary of the Sahitya Sabha and a few other invitees will address the meeting highlighting the contributions of Kalaguru Rabha for the uplift of the Assamese society during the period of British rule.
