KALAIGAON, Oct 19 � A python weighing 15 kg and measuring 13 feet was rescued by tea garden workers here recently. According to information available, workers of Singrimari TE noticed the python at Bholabari section near Kalaigaon town in the morning hours under a tea bush.Tea garden authorities reported the matter to Kalaigaon Police Station. The Honorary Wildlife Warden,Udalguri and Range Officer of Nonai arranged for the rescue of the python. Himangshu Gohain, SI, Kalaigaon Police Station, Forest officials Sanatan Das and Lachit Boro rescued it unhurt. Later, it was released into the Khalingduar Reserve Forest near the Indo-Bhutan border.

It may be mentioned here that several pythons and other reptiles were washed away during the recent flood in the district.
