PWD Minister orders completion of all roads

NAGAON, Oct 2 - PWD, Fishery and Excise Minister Parimal Suklavaidya paid a visit to Nagaon on Saturday and met the officers at Nagaon circuit house. PWD and National Highway engineers along with others were present in the meeting. In the meeting, concerned officers informed that out of 1700 km of rural roads, only 300 km are in a good condition. There are 818 km of State roads, but out of this 40 per cent roads need to be repaired. The executive engineer of Building Division informed that the construction of ITI at Jugijan, girls� hostels at Muwamari, Nilbagan, Kachua and Borkola under MSDP is going on. The Executive Engineer of the PWD Building Division requested the minister to release funds under MSDP.

The NH engineers informed that that work on five projects from Jagiroad to Maibong is going on and is to be completed within March 2017.

The minister ordered the concerned engineers to prepare an estimate of rural and state roads within this month and complete the works by December this year. The MLA of Raha, Rupahihat and Dhing present in the meeting said that the progress of construction of roads in their respective constituencies is not satisfactory. Suklavaidya ordered the engineers to call the contractors and ask them to complete the work on time or leave the work.

He also ordered the engineers to prepare the estimate for the Rs two crore released for the MLA Local Area Development Fund after consulting the concerned MLAs.

MLA Rupok Sarmah, Dimbeswar Das, Aminul Islam, Fishery Director SK Nath were also present in the meeting.

The Minister also released fish seeds at Morikolong Beel and was present in the angling competition at Jashingfa.
