Purbanchal Tai Sahitya Sabha session concludes

JORHAT, March 28 � The three-day long 29th annual session of Purbanchal Tai Sahitya Sabha held at Damchao Gamdhar Konwar Kshetra concluded today.

A colourful procession comprising members of various communities in traditional attire was taken out in the morning.

The open session was inaugurated by Membor Gogoi, MLA, Teok LAC. It was presided over by Chao Keshabananda Dehingia, president, Purbanchal Tai Sahitya Sabha. Drupad Borgohain, MLA, Nazira LAC was the chief guest in the function. The souvenir was released by Pushpa Gogoi, former lecturer of JB College, Jorhat. An audio CD of Tai songs by Debajyoti Phukan was released by Membor Gogoi in the function. Phukan also performed a musical programme of Tai songs in this connection.

In the open session three awards, Dambaru Deodhai Phukan Award, Ratneswar Buragohain Award and Hem Buragohain Award were conferred on Chao Bimal Borpatra Gohain, Chow Aijep Phukan and Chao Naren Mohan respectively.

Though Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Union Minister of DoNER and Mines BK Handique along with several ministers of the State government were scheduled to take part in the open session, they were absent in the function.
