Punjab Police, ASEB, Vasco SC enter semifinals

DULIAJAN, Feb 19 � Punjab Police, Jallandhar, ASEB, Guwahati and Vasco SC, Goa make it to semifinals in the on going 6th Oil India Challenge Gold Cup Football Tournament being organised by oil major Oil India Limited here at Nehru Maiden. In the second quarterfinal match played today, ASEB, caused major upset defeating former I League team Lajong FC, Shillong by a lone goal. Shyam Mura netted the winning goal for ASEB in the 63rd minute of the well contested match. Hemanta Kr Brahma and Maneswar Musahary of ASEB and Kelecji Okaye of Lajong FC were cautioned for rough play.

In the afternoon, Vasco FC of Goa drubbed Five Star Southern Samity of Kolkota in the third quarterfinal match 2-0. Koko Sakobo and Bazileo Rego of Vasco scored in the 31st and 75th minutes for Vasco. For rough palaying Sudhees Muttatah of Vasco and Bikash Nargenari of Five Star were sent off while Juliua Akpele and Queterio Pamgo of Vasco and Soumi P T and Manash Das of Five Star were cautioned. Earlier, yesterday Punjab Police of Jallandhar made to the semifinals defeating NISA , Manipur by 8-7via tie breaker in the first quarter final match of the tournament. Duirng the regulation time G Golmai of NISA put his team ahead in the 58th minute which was equalized by Harpreet Singh of Punjab Police in the 66th minute.

Tomorrow, defending champion and host OIL FC will clash with JCB Bhillai Brothers, Chattisgarh in the fourth quarter final match.
