GUWAHATI, Jan 22 � Punjab won two gold medals in the ongoing 59th National School Games Weightlifting Championship in the girl�s U-17 and U-19 categories.
On the second day of the meet at the Bhogeswari Phukanani Indoor Stadium here today, Punjab lifters, Alaka (U-17, 44kg) and Reema Kumari (U-19, 48kg), won gold medals.
For Assam, Pronoti Borah bagged a sliver medal in the U-17 group�s 48kg body weight category. Altogether 130 weightlifters are taking part in the three-day meet which has been organised by the Directorate of Sports, Assam with the technical support from Weightlifting Federation of India.
Results: U-17- (44kg) KM Puja Gupta (Uttar Pradesh, gold), T Priya Darshani (Andhra Pradesh, silver), Sonali Kalsarpi (Maharashtra, bronze). (48kg) Sorokhaibam B Devi (Manipur, gold), Pronati Borah (Assam, silver), Pinky Nayak (Odisha, bronze). (53kg) Alka (Punjab, gold), Chingakham H Devi (Manipur, silver), Santilata Nayak (Odisha, bronze).
U-19 (48kg): Reema Kumari (Punjab, gold), Dipali Gursale (Maharashtra, silver), KM Sandhya Patel (Uttar Pradesh, bronze). (53kg) Sonia (Delhi, gold), Monika Kadnor (Maharashtra, silver), Suman Devi (Haryana, bronze).
