DULIAJAN, Feb 21 Punjab Police, Jullandhar cruised into the final of the 6th Oil India Challenge Gold Cup Football Tournament, organised by Oil India Limited. In the first semifinal of the championship played today here at Nehru Maiden, Punjab Police edged past ASEB Sports Club, Guwahati 1-0.

The cops were lucky to get the goal as ASEB defender Mitradev Swargiary made a mistake an put the ball in his own net in the 83rd minute.

It was an action packed encounter as players of both the teams used their muscle power and as a result referee Debashis Mazumdar had to caution Harshdeep Singh, Harpreet Singh, Jatinder Singh and Surjit Singh of Punjab Police and Priyo Kumar Singh of ASEB.

ASEB players were more agile on the field and created several openings through out the course. But the Punjab defenders guarded their fort with marking the opponent strikers in the striking zone.

Todays match (s/f): JCB Bhillai Brothers vs Vasco SC.
