Pul confers �Kayakalp award� to hospital

ITANAGAR, March 7 - Arunachal Chief Minister Kalikho Pul today handed over a cheque of Rs 50 lakh to the general hospital at Pasighat in East Siang district which was conferred the �Kayakalp award� given in the categories of maintaining standard protocol in cleanliness, hygiene and infection control practices.

Kayakalp award was instituted in 2015 by Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare under Swachh Bharat Mission to award those public health facilities that maintain high level of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control.

Out of Rs 50 lakh award money, 25 per cent (Rs 12.50 lakh) would be distributed to the hospital staff as cash incentives while the remaining amount would be utilised for improvement of the health delivery services in the hospital, a communiqu� said.

A committee assess the performance of the health institutions based on defined criteria and rate them. The hospital which achieves at least 70 per cent in the criteria during the peer assessment process, qualify for the award. � PTI
