Protests continue against Citizenship Bill

DOOMDOOMA, Jan 11: Along with the rest of the state, protests against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill , 2016 intensified in Doomdooma today.

The Doomdooma unit of AASU burnt effigies of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sharma and Khumtai MLA Mrinal Saikia in front of ASTC Bus Stand here today.

The protestors raised slogans against the controversial bill and the government.

The assistant secretary of All Tinsukia District Students' Union Rana Sonar, Doomdooma unit AASU president Uttam Baruah, secretary Pratim Neog and Doomdooma Sakha Sahitya Sabha secretary Deben Deka along with the AASU activists participated in today's protest.

On the other hand, a huge protest rally was brought out at Kakopothar today against the controversial bill. The rally was brought out from Kakopothar Public Playground to Kakopothar BDO office.
