Protest march against Citizenship Bill

GUWAHATI, Jan 22 - Around 500 students took part in a protest march held here today against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. The protest was jointly organised by the student unions of various colleges in the city.

The march started from the rotary of the Guwahati Club area and moved to the office of the Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner to whom the students submitted a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi with an appeal to stop the Bill.

Moreover, the All Assam Students� Union (AASU) along with other 30 organisations of the State is going to organise a mass protest at the Latasil playground here tomorrow against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

In a statement issued here today, AASU urged all sections of the Assamese people to join the protest to raise a united voice against the Bill.
