TINSUKIA, Feb 11 � In protest against the sale of land belonging to the Hukanpukhuri Tea Estate, local people under the banner of the Adivasi Chah Jonogosthi Surakhya Samiti took out a protest rally from the tea estate to the Deputy Commissioner�s office here today. The protesters alleged that the tea garden land was secretly being sold to businessmen by depriving the workers. They maintained that the land sale was being done to sell the entire tea estate in phases purposes other than tea cultivation.
The protesters demanded that the illegal sale of the tea estate land should be stopped soon. The protesters staged a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner�s office and submitted a memorandum.
