GUWAHATI, July 17 - Asking the State government to take necessary steps for ensuring the safety of women travelling in public transport, North East Network (NEN) has demanded justice for the two victims of rape and murder on two different trains recently.
Following the incidents, NEN organised protest meets in Kamrup, Darrang, Golaghat, Dhemaji and Udalguri, demanding justice for the victims. More than hundred people gathered and lighted earthen lamps and candles to pay tribute to the departed souls and expressed their concern over rising cases of violence against women in the State.
