Protest against CAA on in Tinsukia district

DOOMDOOMA, Dec 30 - Protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act are continuing in Tinsukia district. On Sunday, huge protest rallies were held at Makum and Margherita.

The rally held at Rajanikanta Bordoloi playground, Makum was addressed by AASU central committee executive member Binay Dubey, All Moran Students� Union president Arunjyoti Moran, Tinsukia District Committee of AJYCP president Surajit Moran and several others.

Artistes performed cultural items in the rally which was attended by several thousand people.

Meanwhile, several thousand people attended the rally held at Margherita Town High School playground. The speakers opposed the CAA and the people present pledged to continue their struggle against the CAA till it is repealed by the government. At Bijoy Nagar of Rupai Siding here, artistes and litterateurs resorted to protest against CAA by painting on canvas and reciting poems on Sunday.

Artistes Biren Sharma, Diptendu Chakravarty, Ashraful Haque Chowdhury, Govind Karmakar and poet Sarifa Khatoon Chowdhury, Boby Bora and several others participated in the protest.

A large number of children of the area also participated in it.

Meanwhile, Chatra Mukti Sangram Samity staged a three-hour sit-in demonstration in front of Doomdooma Revenue Circle Office on Sunday demanding unconditional release of peasant leader Akhil Gogoi and others detained during the current agitation against CAA.
