GUWAHATI, March 21 The people of greater Rupnagar area including the Senior Citizens Association have opposed the proposed shifting of the Rupnagar Post Office to outside Rupnagar.

The aggrieved citizens have submitted a memorandum to Chief Post Master General Arundhati Ghosh seeking her intervention in preventing the move to shift the post office.

Shifting of the post office will create serious inconveniences for the people, especially the senior citizens, women and students. The Chief Post Master General gave us a patient hearing and assured us of not doing anything against the interests of the local people, the Rupnagar-Srimantapur Birubari Senior Citizens Association said in a statement.

The senior citizens also called on the Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, drawing her attention to the dilapidated condition of the Rupnagar Post Office and its poor functioning.
