By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 5 - Prompt response by a GVK-EMRI Mrityunjoy 108 Emergency Service team to a distress call involving a critical accident of a child at Raha resulted in the saving of the childs life on Thursday.

Kashmir Bishnumurthy, a school student and a resident of Chaparmukh in Raha while going to attend his tuition class fell down from the stairs onto an open rod which penetrated his left side armpit below the shoulder joint and impaled him severely.

The Mrityunjoy 108 ambulance team (Raha) responded to the call immediately and evacuated the child with the help of bystanders. Though the iron rod was cut and the child shifted to the ambulance, however, a portion of the rod was still sticking out of his body.

We reached the spot in just five minutes and started the ERCP conference after evacuating the child. I was asked to give him Tramadol injection to ease the pain and to apply proper dressing. We immediately shifted the patient to Nagaon Civil Hospital where the two rods were removed safely, Dhurjyoti Prasad of GVK-EMRI said.

The child was stated to be out of danger.
