GOALPARA, Aug 27 - Some parts of the Goalpara town have been experiencing power cuts for the last 24 hours due to technical snags since Friday morning causing severe hardships for the people.
It was one of the worst hot summer day leaving the residents of these localities in desperation even as the power in the inverters got exhausted paralysing the life of the people.
Despite repeated complaints from the people, the staff of the Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL), Goalpara, have not been able to repair the glitch.
This technical glitch in the power transmission has exposed the hollowness of the APDCL leading to resentment among the people in the town.
The insensitiveness of the local administration and the senior officials was demonstrated as the complaint telephone numbers were not functional and no senior official was available at the field level to provide correct information on the technical snag and to assuage the feelings of the people.
This is a complete negligence on the part of APDCL at a time when the State Government is harping on power reforms. The APDCL should work more professionally, a few aggrieved residents of the town opined.
