Prohibitory orders promulgated

GUWAHATI, June 18 � Some people or group of people are illegally cutting hilly earth in different areas of the Kamrup Metropolitan district particularly from the hills causing imminent danger of landslides, blockade, extensive danger to the life and properties and also irreparable danger to environment.

The Additional District Magistrate, Kamrup Metropolitan Mrinal Gogoi in exercise of power under Section 144 CrPC prohibited cutting hilly earth from the Madhgharia, Kharghuli, Chunchali, Dakhingaon, Sarania, Hengrabari, Kamakhya, Santipur, Narakasur areas and all other hills without authorisation from the District Magistrate, Kamrup Metropolitan district, with immediate effect and until further orders.

Any person aggrieved at this order is, however at liberty to appear before the court of the Additional District Magistrate, Kamrup Metropolitan within 15 days of issue of this order, an official release stated.

Further, the district administration has imposed prohibitory orders in the district in view of various health problems related to large scale use and consumption of gutkha.

Using, selling and consumption of tobacco based chewable products commonly known as gutkha within 200 metre radius of all educational institutions within entire district of Kamrup Metripolitan is prohibited with immediate effect and until further orders, the release added.
