GUWAHATI, Dec 29 � The Saurav Kumar Chaliha Anuragi Sangstha is organising a discussion (mel) on the topic, �Saurav Kumar Chalihar dore Saurav Kumar Chaliha� at 4 pm on January 1 at the Machkhowa Pragjyoti ITA Centre for Performing Arts complex. Veteran journalist Dhirendra Nath Bezboruah, noted writers Arup Kumar Dutta and Dr Dhrubajyoti Bora and Dinkar Kumar, among others, will take part in the programme.
Santwana Bordoloi and Pakiza Begum will read out Chaliha�s well-acclaimed short story, Dupariya on the occasion.
It needs mention here that the Sangstha was formed on January 1, 2010 to preserve, celebrate and popularise the works of the renowned writer all over the world.
In a press release issued here, it has been stated that there is a specific reason for choosing the first day of the year for the purpose. For, it was the idea of Saurav Kumar Chaliha himself to start the New Year with a bhal khabar, a piece of good news on a morning newspaper on the very first day of the year.
Keeping this in mind, the Anuragi Sangstha was formed on January 1, 2010, and an audio-visual website containing a few short stories of the renowned writer in original Assamese and their English versions was launched on January 1, 2011. The January 1, 2012 programme is being organised following the tradition set by Chaliha for starting the year with a piece of good news, says the Sangstha.
The Sangstha has requested the readers of Chaliha�s works to attend the programme and share their views, memories, etc.
