Prog for PM�s employment scheme beneficiaries

GUWAHATI, March 4 - A six-day Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) for the beneficiaries of Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) conducted by Assam Grameen Vikash Bank (AGVB)-Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), Kamrup (Metro) at its institute campus concluded today.

It was a general EDP training that imparted to 23 beneficiaries under the PMEGP scheme of the district who desire to be entrepreneurs in the field of tailoring and readymade garments, steel fabrication, herbal beauty parlour management, DTP and xerox, tent house, bag and shoe-making, transformer, electric motor pump repairing, etc.

The training was conducted under the guidance and coordination of Sukanti Ranjan Bhattacharjee, faculty of the institute, a press release said.

It was inaugurated by Pranab Borah, General Manager, DICC, Kamrup Metro, Kamal Bhoumik, Regional Manager, AGVB, RO, Guwahati, and Durlov Chandra Nath, Director of the institute.

The valedictory programme was attended by Ashish Modak, State Director, KVIC, Assam, Pranab Borah, General Manager, DICC, Kamrup Metro, Kamal Bhoumik, Regional Manager, AGVB, RO Guwahati, and Sudip Dhar, Lead District Manager, Kamrup Metro, along with other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries encouraged the trainees to establish their new enterprise as soon as possible and generate at least one employment against investment of Rs 1 lakh. They also advised the trainees to maintain good relation with their bankers for future development.

DC Nath, Director of the institute, stated that loan totaling Rs 84.64 lakh had been sanctioned to the trainees by the various branches of AGVB, SBI, UCO, CBI, PNB, Syndicate Bank, Vijaya Bank and Allahabad Bank for their self-employment as well as generation of employment.
