Prof Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah hall opened at Raha College of Fisheries

RAHA, Aug 23 - The College of Fisheries , AAU, Raha on Thursday dedicated a newly-built state-of-the-art auditorium of the college in the name of Dr Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah, former Vice Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, in recognition of his immense contributions for the development of the college.

The auditorium with a capacity of 300 seats was inaugurated by Minister of Fisheries, Excise, Environment & Forest Parimal Suklabaidya in the presence of Dr KM Bujarbaruah, former VC, Dr Ashok Bhattacharyya, VC (Acting) Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat. Dr. KK Tamuli, Dean , College of Fisheries, Raha MLA Dimbeswar Das, Jadav Saikia, DC, Sankar Brata Raimedhi, SP, Nagaon, Puballi Dutta Bujarbaruah, social activist cum advocate of Shillong Bench of Gauhati High Court along with faculty members, administrative officials of Assam Veterinary College, Gauhati, AAU, Jorhat and students of College of Fisheries were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Parimal Suklabaidya said that it is very important to recognize a great man�s contribution. � Raha College of Fisheries has taken a unique initiative to salute the work of the great educationist KM Bujarbaruah. We have been witnessing that the contribution of great people are recognized after their demise. It is commendable that CoF has taken the step to appreciate the contribution during the lifetime of Prof Bujarbaruah,� he said.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Ashok Bhattacharyya said, �It is not possible to show our gratefulness to Prof Bujarbaruah. This is a small gesture to express our gratitude to our mentor, guide and well-wisher. We believe that his name will be remembered and accepted by generations to come�. He also said that College of Fisheries and its parent organization AAU will continue this mission to give recognition to those academicians and educationists who have immense contribution in the development of education and research related to Fishery Science and Agricultural Science in the State.

In his address, Prof KM Bujarbaruah said that it was an exceptional moment of his life and expressed his gratitude to the College of Fisheries, especially to Assam Agricultural University, colleagues and well-wishers of AAU.

Puballi Dutta Bujarbaruah also spoke on the occasion. She in her brief speech thanked the College of Fisheries for its love and regards for her husband Prof KM Bujarbaruah and for naming the auditorium in the latter�s name. She said, �Our family has no words to express our gratitude to the college and would always remember the honour.�

An the beginning of the programme, Dr KK Tamuli, Dean of the college delivered the welcome speech. A new girls� hostel named �Yamuna� was also opened for the students of the college on the day.
