Problems plague rly hill section

GUWAHATI, April 27 - Problem continues to plague the Silchar-Lumding section of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). After repeated disruption to service in the hill section during the last few days due to landslides and derailments, the NFR was today again forced to announce certain restrictions in the area.

�In view of report of fresh landslide and sinking of soil at Phiding that has disturbed the railway track substantially, train operation in the Lumding-Silchar hill section is being temporarily controlled,� the NFR said in an official statement.

Meanwhile, NFR PRO Nripen Bhattacharya said that work on track restoration is on in full swing and services will resume once the work is completed.

In view of the latest incidents of landslide, the 55615 Guwahati-Silchar Fast Passenger, which had started its journey from Guwahati yesterday, was short-terminated at Lumding and returned to Guwahati as train number 55616 from Lumding.

The 55616 Silchar-Guwahati Fast Passenger, that started journey from Silchar today, was short-terminated at Mahur and returned to Silchar as train number 55615 Mahur.

Moreover, the 25657 Guwahati-Silchar Kanchenjungha Express scheduled to leave Guwahati on April 28 and the 25658 Silchar-Guwahati Kanchenjungha Express scheduled to leave Silchar on April 29 will remain cancelled.

The 55615 Guwahati-Silchar Fast Passenger scheduled to leave Guwahati on April 27 and the 55616 Silchar-Guwahati Fast Passenger scheduled to leave Silchar on April 28 will also remain cancelled.
