Probe into ordered construction �anomalies�

MIRZA, July 3 � The Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup, Vinod Seshan has ordered an inquiry into the alleged anomalies in the construction of toilets under the Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhijan (RMSA) Mission and Asom Sarva Siksha Abhijan (SSA) Mission in six schools of Kamrup district. The District Education Officer has been entrusted with conducting the probe into the matter and asked to submit the report soon. This was stated in a press release issued by the DIPRO of Kamrup on Thursday.

Official sources said that a meeting was held at the DC�s office on June 24, which was chaired by the Kamrup DC. The matter relating to the construction of boys� and girls� toilets in the schools of Kamrup district was discussed in detail.

Sources said that anomalies have been reported in the construction of girls� toilets in Salpukhuriar ME School, Milonjyoti LP School, Sonaram Saikia LP School and Udianagaon LP School under the Rangiya subdivision and the District Education Officer concerned has been directed to probe the matter for further action.

The sources added that anomalies have also been noticed in the construction of toilets at Mohirkuthi Pre-Senior Madrassa located at Chamaria and No. 34 Simina LP School located under the Palasbari LAC. The DC has directed the Elementary Education Officer concerned to withhold the salaries of the headmasters concerned of the two schools.

The DC said that altogether 1,035 boys� and girls� toilets had been constructed at various schools in Kamrup district. He had requested the school authorities concerned to complete the construction work by June 30.

The Kamrup DC warned the officials concerned against any anomalies in the construction of toilets under the RMSA and SSA and said that firm action would be taken against erring officials.

He said that land is not available in some schools for the construction of toilets. The DC has directed the school authorities concerned to meet the Circle Officers to sort out such issues.
