NAGAON, June 2 � Additional Chief Secretary PK Choudhury visited Nagaon on Friday to inquire into the May 29 incident at Nagaon Circuit House where members of the PAC, namely Prasanta Phukan (BJP) was assaulted by Nurul Huda (vice chairman), Manik Ali and Saiful Islam (both members) of Nagaon Zila Parishad.
In that incident AIUDF MLA Mujibur Rahman also assaulted Additional Chief Secretary Choudhury, who subsequently gathered evidence from ADC Anih Bara and Ashim Chetia, PD Niranjan Baruah, executive officer of Nagaon Zila Parishad R Chakrawarty, town SI Monoranjan Gogoi and some members of Zila Parishad.
Mediapersons submitted the video footage of that incident to the inquiry officer. He had a discussion with Nagaon DC Dr P Ashok Babu and SP Sunil Kumar. A protest against the May 29 incident is being organised by AGP throughout the State, informed former MLA Girindra Kumar Baruah. Till now the district authority has failed to take action against Nurul Huda and Manik Ali. They have arrested only Saiful Islam due to interference of the judiciary. He was shifted to jail from BP Civil Hospital.
