Pro-talk Adivasi militants oppose bid to create rift

By Correspondent

BONGAIGAON, April 18 - Cadres of Adivasi Cobra Military of Assam (ACMA) have resolved to remain united under the leadership of its chairman Xabrius Xaxa, opposing any rift which a leader, sacked by the outfit earlier, is trying to create.

Arjun Tudo, the outfits commandant of Chirang district unit, expressed this desire along with his cadres at Balapara (Bhutiapara) on Monday, where some cadres stay in a small non-designated camp comprising two thatched houses which are located 17 kms away from district headquarter Kajalgaon, after signing a ceasefire pact with the Government in 2012.

The outfit had sacked its commander-in-chief Kanhu Murmu , deputy commander-in-chief Ratan Tudo and cadre Sujit Soren after a Central investigative agency accused them of being involved in the killing of All Adivasi Students Association of Assam (AASAA) leader Bosko Charmako in 2010 at Gossaigaon area in Kokrajhar district.

Kanhu is still at large, while Ratan is trying to regain the leadership of the outfit by creating division allegedly with the help of police, claimed the cadres. At present the outfit has 853 cadres at Jadumari (Kokrajhar) designated camp and three non-designated camps in Balapara, Nagdalbari and Deosri in Chirang district.
