GUWAHATI, May 17 The State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today opposed any proposed move to rope in private players in the power sector, as was hinted by State Power Minister Pradyut Bordoloi on Wednesday.

Bordoloi, on Wednesday, had said that the State will not rule out the possibility of roping in private players to increase the efficiency, if the Government agencies failed to deliver the goods.

The saffron party sniffed a conspiracy into entire development and warned the Power Minister from taking any such decision.

Meanwhile, the trade and industry cell of BJP today submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister over soaring prices of essential commodities and demanded immediate steps to prevent the escalating prices.
