GUWAHATI, Feb 16 � Paceman Pritom Das and opener Pallav Das scripted an 8-wicket victory for Assam against Odisha in the East Zone Vijay Hazare Trophy One-Day Championship in Kolkata today.
It was Assam�s second consecutive victory in the championship and the win has brightened Assam�s chances of making it to the all India knock out stage with 10 points from two outings.
Pritom took five wickets while Pallav struck a 96-ball 62.
Assam won the toss and invited Odisha to bat first which proved to be a good decision.
Assam pacers exploited the lively Eden Gardens green top in overcast conditions and bowled out the opponent for 140 in 46.1 overs.
Chasing the easy target, Assam made a decent start adding 61 runs for the opening wicket partnership between Pallav and Dheeraj Jadhav which virtually laid the foundation for Assam.
Pallav and Sib Sankar Roy also contributed 61 runs for the second wicket which apparently sealed the issue for Assam.
Govind Podder (50) was the top-scorer for Odisha.
Having suffered their second successive loss, Odisha are on the verge of elimination from the tournament.
