DIPHU, Oct 17 - Brisk preparations are on to celebrate Chavang Kut, the post-harvesting festival of the Chin-Kuki-Mizo ethnic group which will start from October 31 evening till November 1.
A number of distinguished guests have been invited for the festival, which will be centrally organised by the Kuki community in Karbi Anglong at the permanent Chavang Kut venue located at Kuki Colony, Manja, about 16 kilometres away from Diphu headquarters.
According to the organisers, this year Chavang Kut celebrations will showcase brotherhood solidarity and colourful cultural exchange with the invited �hill-brothers� such as Karbis, Dimasas, Rengmas, Nagas, Garos, Hmars, Mizos and others to maintain a cordial atmosphere.
The occasion will be graced by the Chief Executive Member, Executive Members of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and all the MLAs of this district. Miss and Mrs Chavang Kut, 2016, entertainment and talent shows are some of the events chalked out for the occasion.
Besides interaction and luncheon with the guest of honour and invited guests, Kuki village chiefs will be honoured this time. This was stated by Thangboi Vaiphei, information and publicity secretary of the celebration committee.
