GUWAHATI, Dec 21 � Organised by UB�s Centre for Alternative Vocation in association with wine manufacturer Vinho Porto, the third pre-Christmas cake festival was inaugurated at the Rajgar Bihutoli yesterday, said a press release.
It was inaugurated by actress Prastuti Parashar, Kashmiri Saikia, actor Siddhartha Mukherjee and singer Manas Robin. They all wished that the festival will add more flavour to this festive season.
Cakes of all flavours, colours and sizes were diplayed by the participants. One of the major highlights of the festival were the home-made cakes that were displayed and sold by the passed out students of the cooking and baking school of CAV.
From colourful fruit cake to creamy cheese cakes and rich chirstmas cakes, the festival had everything that one can ask for. Besides these there were also plain cakes, carrot cakes, date cakes, black forest cake, sponge cakes, pineapple upside-down cakes and others to suit every taste buds. Muffins like carrot muffins, coconut muffins, chocolate muffins and others were a huge crowd puller. Wine cakes like dandy cake, gataue and others displayed by some of the participants and members of CAV were huge favourites.
There was also a wine tasting session during the festival by the �Vhino Porto� a local wine manufacture company. Among the noted bakers who participated in the event are JB�s, Loyan�s, Hotel Gateway Grandeur, Repose and others.
The festival that started yesterday will conclude tomorrow. On the concluding day participants will be judged by a panel of experts for their best cakes. There will be a cake competition among the participant too tomorrow.
