Prasar Bharati, Media Management win

GUWAHATI, Dec 21 - Prasar Bharati and Media Management won their respective matches of the Topcem ASJA Inter Media T20 Cricket Tournament at the Judges� Field here today.

In the opening match, Prasar Bharati edged past Topcem Sports Journalists by two wickets.

Electing to bat, Topcem Sports Journalists scored 124 runs for the loss of four wickets in their stipulated 20 overs with Rajdeep Das top scoring with 34 runs off 37 balls featuring four hits to the fence while Amaresh Sinha contributed an unbeaten 25 runs off 21 deliveries laced with three boundaries. Kausav Baruah chipped in with 22 runs off 17 balls studded with three boundaries. Manjit Mahanta bagged three wickets for 11 runs in 4 overs while Biky Das scalped one wicket for 19 runs in 3 overs.

In reply, Prasar Bharati notched up the winning target losing eight wickets in 17.1 overs. Gauranga Gogoi top scored with 32 runs off 22 balls studded with four hits to the ropes while Bikash Das and Gautam Sarma contributed 28 and 16 runs respectively. Amaresh Sinha was the pick of the bowlers with a haul of three wickets for 22 runs in 4 overs while Rajdeep Das and Lakhyajyoti Gogoi bagged two wickets each.

In another match, Media Management thrashed Electronic Media XI by seven wickets. Electing to bat, Electronic Media XI scored 133 for 6 in 17 overs. Mriganka Sarma top scored with 69 runs off 48 balls while Robin Das contributed 17 runs off 23 balls. For Media Management, Abhinash Thakuria bagged three wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs while Amit Das scalped one wicket for 15 runs in 4 overs.

In reply, Media Management reached the target losing three wickets in 16.5 overs with Jagjit Singh top scoring with 54 runs off 50 balls while Saurav Nath contributed 37 runs off 30 balls. Jatin Das remained unbeaten on 22 runs off 11 balls. For Electronic Media XI, Dhruva Kalita took two wickets while Binay Kalita scalped one wicket for 22 runs in 4 overs.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Lakhya Konwar, member secretary, SLAC. Among others present on the occasion were, Dr Anil Kapoor, president, Sales and Marketing, Topcem Cement; Devajit Saikia, secretary, Assam Cricket Association; former sports administrator Rajib Prakash Baruah; senior sports journalist Pabitra Gogoi, among others.
