SHILLONG, Dec 9 - Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan today said that his Ministry would work upon the inherent qualities of the people in North East to enhance their skill levels.�Pradhan said this during a review meeting of the skill development projects here today.�
�Some of the inherent qualities of the people of the region are their honesty, reliability and hardworking nature. These qualities have to be converted into bigger assets,� Pradhan said during his brief visit to the State.�
He said that there is a genuine effort to scale up the skill level of the people of the country, including those in North East. He said that some of the challenges to scale up the skill level were identified and discussed in the review meeting.�
He said that the skill-level of the people in the western nations is about 80 to 90 per cent. However, in India, it is quite low. Pradhan revealed that skill level of the country would expand in the days to come with the efforts put in by the present Government.�
Pradhan, who also holds the Petroleum and Natural Gas portfolio, later paid a visit to the residence of Chief Minister Mukul Sangma. During the brief meeting an MoU was signed between the State Government and Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
