IMPHAL, April 25 � The Eastern India Powerlifting Championship was inaugurated at the Sports Authority of India-Special Area Games Hall, Khuman Lampak Sports Complex here yesterday.

The championship is being organised by All Manipur Powerlifting Association (AMPA) under the supervision of Indian Powerlifting Federation (IPF). The championship will conclude on April 26.

Around 100 players from six powerlifting teams � Mizoram, Assam, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh � in addition to host Manipur are participating in the three-day long championship.

Arjuna awardee Subrata Dutta, president of Asian Powerlifting Federation, N Kumar Meitei, president of Manipur Powerlifting Association, Sunil Elangbam and secretary of Manipur Olympic Association (MOA) were present during the inaugural function.
