Power Grid restores second damaged circuit

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, May 15 The second 400 KV circuit of the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL), which was damaged by a storm on May 3, was restored yesterday evening and this has helped the Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL) to draw more power from the Eastern Grid and the power exchange and thus to improve the overall power situation in the State.

Informing this, APDCL sources told this newspaper that the PGCIL could restore the circuit without resorting to shutdown of the first circuit that was restored on Saturday last.

The APDCL drew 180 MW of power through these restored circuits during the day time today. In the evening it is drawing 260 MW of power through these circuits.

With the improvement in the power supply network, the State could receive around 700 MW of power during the day time. This was at par with its off-peak-load-hour power demand.
