Postal services paralysed in Manipur

IMPHAL, March 7 - Postal services in Manipur has been paralysed since Friday as its employees went on an indefinite strike demanding transfer and disciplinary action against Director Postal Services PS Vinod Kumar of Manipur Division for allegedly harassing women employees.

Employees, mostly womenfolk staged a sit-in inside the GPO Imphal complex on Monday. The protestors said that an FIR was also filed against him in Imphal West Police Station (Women Cell) besides sending a written complaint to Secretary, All India Postal Employees Union on March 3 against the conduct of Vinod Kumar.

�We will continue our strike until disciplinary action is initiated against the concerned officer. We also demand his transfer from Manipur�, said a woman employee. The All India Postal Employees Union P-III and P-IV Manipur Division Branch, Imphal secretary N Gojendra told the media that the Postal staff strongly condemn Vinod Kumar�s misbehaviour with the woman staff.

Health camp: The Assam Rifles is conducting medical camps in their areas of deployment in NE on March 9 as part of the 181st Raising Day celebrations of the force, a press release said.

Meanwhile, 28 Sector Assam Rifles at Kakching will undertake a week-long Swachhta Pakhwada (cleanliness drive) from March 8 to 14.
