GUWAHATI, Dec 8 - The annual event �Sikpui Ruoi� (post-harvest festival of the Hmars) was celebrated on December 5 at Shilpgram, Panjabari here, stated a press release issued here.
The theme for the occasion was �Service to Humanity�, which is also the motto of the Hmar Welfare Society, Guwahati (HWSG).
On the occasion, pastor Fimthasang Infimate invoked God�s blessings with an opening prayer, while James L Neingaite, chairman of the Sikpui Ruoi Organising Committee, delivered the welcome speech.
Chief host Thanghlun Hmar, Deputy Commissioner, IT (BP), sounded the traditional gong and officially declared the festival open. A cultural event was also organised on the occasion, added the release.
