Post-flood scene reviewed

MORIGAON, Sept 4 - Keshab Mahanta, Minister for Water Resource and Science & Technology, paid a visit to the flood- affected Morigaon district and reviewed the post-flood situation in the district.

A high-level official meeting on the relief and rehabilitation work was held at the Morigaon Deputy Commissioner�s conference hall where Mahanta took stock of the situation. The top officials of Water Resource department, Deputy Commissioner, Morigaon Hemen Das and Rakesh Kumar, Commissioner, Excise took part in the meeting. The Water Resource Minister directed the officials to go on rehabilitation works on a war- footing in flood-ravaged Lahorighat, Bhuragaon and Mayong Circles of Morigaon district.

Moreover, the Agriculture Department officials were directed to chalk out the rabi and other alternative crop schemes in the flood-affected areas of the district. The Minister emphasised upon the need of the time framed agriculture schemes in the flood-affected district. He also directed the Water Resource department officials to expedite the erosion-protection schemes works in Lahorighat.
