GOALPARA, Oct 26 - Popular singer Jiten Deka and one of his companion Mitra Dev Rabha lost their lives while three others sustained grievous injuries when the car they were travelling in, after performing at a programme at Boko, hit a truck at Banabashi (near Dudhnoi) on NH 37 under Dudhnoi PS around 1.30 am today.
The injured, identified as Hargobinda Deka, Basistha Rabha and Nirmal Chatterjee, have been shifted to Guwahati.
Known for his exceptional musical talent, Jiten Deka got recognition as an artist from the All India Radio in 1980 and also attained fame in the State�s musical arena with his Mur Shukula Ghora. He was a doyen of music and wrote two books, namely Moi Debatar Bahi and Choto Shreni. His other notable musical work includes Mur Sur Indra Dhanush.
