Poor Reliance service draws flak

GUWAHATI, Aug 12 - Poor functioning of Reliance mobile phone and internet service has drawn flak from harrowed consumers. While poor network has been a persistent irritant with Reliance, matters have worsened in the past week and more with many Reliance mobile phone customers not having any incoming call service.

�This is terrible. My cell phone does not have incoming calls and message services for over a week now. I have lodged complaints several times but to no avail,� an aggrieved customer said, adding that he would have no alternative but to switch to another service provider.

When contacted, a Reliance customer care service centre official said that the problem had been persisting across the Northeast for over a week now. �This is due to some technical problems and we are trying to rectify it,� she said.

Cell phones apart, Reliance mobile internet services have also been pathetic for several months in the city.

�The Reliance mobile internet is too slow to be of any use. I am planning to shift to another service provider as it has not shown any interest to rectify its drawbacks. What we are getting is deficient service despite paying for it. Rather, the service has been as good as non-existent,� another customer said.

A Reliance dongle user said he was astonished to find his device showing �roaming� in the home network itself on a couple of occasions.

�This may be the result of some technical glitch, but ultimately, it may lead to an exorbitant bill,� he said, adding, if one does simple arithmetic, the service provider would only be going all the way to the bank laughing as �my case may not be an isolated one among hundreds of such subscribers.�
