MUSHALPUR, Aug 22 - Asish Turi, a six-year-old child of Karamtaoli village in Baksa succumbed to injuries when a concrete post of a half-constructed IAY house collapsed on him when the child was playing near it on August 20.
According to reports, the child was swinging on a rope tied against the concrete post when the post collapsed and fell on the child at play. The child was rushed to the Mushalpur Civil Hospital but he succumbed to injuries on way to the hospital. A house under Indira Awas Yojana had been sanctioned to the labourer father of the deceased about four years ago. The fact that the post could not bear the load of a six-year-old child on a swing exposes the substandard quality the houses constructed under the VCDC. Besides, it is noteworthy that the house is yet to be completed after four years of construction. The locals have demanded action against the concerned VCDC chairman and have also demanded compensation to the bereaved family from the concerned authority.
