Poll observers arrive in Baksa dist

GUWAHATI, March 25 - Six election observers have arrived to oversee the election activities in three LACs in Baksa district, namely, 58-Tamulpur, 62-Barama (ST) and 63-Chapaguri (ST). To monitor and check that the election process is free and fair, the Election Commission of India has appointed Shivjee Choupal (general observer for Tamulpur and Barama� phone nos.� 0362-4234555 and 9854119370), Vilash B Patil (general observer for Chapaguri � phone nos. 0362-4234541 and 9854119626), Basant K Rath as the police observer (phone nos. � 0362-4234542 and 9854119431), Pradip KS Sengar as the expenditure observer (9854119525) and Rajesh Kumar Jha (09458451061) as the awareness observer for the three LACs. The Baksa election district has a total population of 9.5 lakh (as per the 2011 Census), out of which the total voters are 4,58,001 (males � 2,38,741 and females � 2,19,260). A total of 604 polling stations have been established in the district. Nineteen candidates have filed nominations for the elections to be held on April 11. This was stated in a press release issued by the District Election Officer, Mushalpur, Baksa.
