Poll observers arrive in Baksa dist

GUWAHATI, March 25 - Six election observers have arrived to oversee the election activities in three LACs in Baksa district, namely, 58-Tamulpur, 62-Barama (ST) and 63-Chapaguri (ST). To monitor and check that the election process is free and fair, the Election Commission of India has appointed Shivjee Choupal (general observer for Tamulpur and Barama� phone nos.� 0362-4234555 and 9854119370), Vilash B Patil (general observer for Chapaguri � phone nos. 0362-4234541 and 9854119626), Basant K Rath as the police observer (phone nos. � 0362-4234542 and 9854119431), Pradip KS Sengar as the expenditure observer (9854119525) and Rajesh Kumar Jha (09458451061) as the awareness observer for the three LACs. The voters can avail the toll free district helpline number 18003453745 for any poll-related queries.

The Baksa election district has a total population of 9.5 lakh (as per the 2011 Census), out of which the total voters are 4,58,001 (males � 2,38,741 and females � 2,19,260). A total of 604 polling stations have been established in the district. Nineteen candidates have filed nominations for the elections to be held on April 11. This was stated in a press release issued by the District Election Officer, Mushalpur, Baksa.
