Politicians need to win people�s trust: Ravi Shankar

ITANAGAR, Sept 8 - Spiritual leader and founder of Art of Living Foundation, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said politicians have to work a great deal to win the trust of the people. Delivering a talk on �political ethics and challenges in the context of changing times� at the State Banquet Hall here today, the spiritual leader said that if people�s trust is won, then there is no need to spend money in elections.

He also said, �We all must follow the ethics of not doing things to others which we don�t want others to do to us�.

He further advised that one must not be discouraged by criticism, rather one should continue to work for betterment of the society, which will generate tremendous energy to work more.

Elated at the Vedic chanting of �mangalacharan� by school girls dressed in traditional attire at the start of the lecture session, Sri Sri in his address said Arunachal will bring a revolution in women�s empowerment. He also said it requires a great pronunciation skill to chant it to perfection.

The lecture session, which was participated by Ministers, legislators, public leaders and senior officials, was followed by a question-answer round. Assembly Speaker TN Thongdok delivering his welcome address appreciated Sri Sri�s effort in negotiating with the ultras in the North East to bring them back to mainstream.

Earlier, he was accorded a warm welcome by Chief Minister Pema Khandu at Raj Bhawan helipad, accompanied by State BJP president Tapir Gao, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Chief Secretary Shakuntala D Gamlin along with other officials. Later, the spiritual leader visited the Art of Living campus in Jollang where he was given a rousing welcome by the devotees.
