DIBRUGARH, Oct 17 � Hundreds of contractual workers of Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) in Lepetkata today gheraoed Borborooah Police Station after police detained five of its leaders this morning.

Police had picked up the workers� leaders Naba Dhadumia, Indrakanta Gogoi, Hiren Gohain, Pallash Gogoi and Dulu Dehingia after they were allegedly found involved in locking the main gate of BCPL in protest against the non fulfillment of their demand for regularisation of their jobs.

The contractual gas cracker project workers said that BCPL had agreed in principle to give priority to those already engaged in contract works for recruitment in the company but had ignored them.
