By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Feb 28 Assam Police is confident of solving the jigsaw surrounding the killing of two persons by businessman Hariprasanna Hazarika and his personal security officer within a couple days with investigators finally securing custody of Hazarika, who was today released from Down Town Hospital where he was undergoing treatment.

The Court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup also extended Hazarika's PSO Pankaj Arandhara's custody to another two days, while the other three accused were sent to judicial custody.

All the five accused were today produced before the court. Advocate Bijon Mahajan appeared on behalf of the accused.

A senior Assam Police official told this reporter that statements given by Hazarika and his PSO did not tally and now that Hazarika had been taken into custody for questioning, the missing link into the murder mystery would be soon exposed.

"Going by the way the investigation has progressed so far, we should be able to solve the mystery within the next couple of days," the official stated.

Two persons were killed in the wee hours of Thursday near Mathuranagar area after Hariprasanna Hazarika, a Sivasagar-based businessman and his personal security officer Pankaj Arandhara opened fire killing two persons, who according to the businessman had come to attack him.

However, primary investigation indicated it to be a fall-out of a business rivalry, though no concrete evidence could be gathered by the police to back its claim.
