IMPHAL, July 24 Manipur police foiled the plan of agitators to storm the budget session of the State Assembly here, for the third time today. Ten agitating students were also rounded up in this connection.

Demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in the State, around 500 students from educational institutions in the valley tried to storm the on-going Assembly session today. The call for the stir was given by the students wing of the Joint Action Committee on ILP system in Manipur.

Police also fired teargas shells to disperse the students. However, the students retaliated with stones and bricks at the western gate of DM College campus.

On Wednesday, a number of students were injured when police fired teargas shells and smoke bombsin a bid to disperse the agitating students. Several Police commando personnel also sustained injuries when agitators pelted stones at them. More than 10 students were hurt during Wednesdays incident. The agitation began on Tuesday in the valley districts.

ILP, which restricts outsiders from entering a State and staying there without permission, is enforced in three Northeastern States of Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram. It was withdrawn from Manipur in November 1950 but the people are now demanding its re-introduction in the State.
