Police-public meet held in Garo Hills

TURA, Sept 28 - In an attempt to create awareness as well as to bridge relations, the district administration in collaboration with North Garo Hills police, held a police-public meet in Resubelpara.

Addressing the gathering, SP, Dr Raghavendra Kumar informed that supporting militancy in any form � financially or morally is punishable under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. He called on the support of the people including stakeholders, NGOs and residents of the district to inform the police of any suspicious activity.

A confidential telephone number would be provided for ensuring secrecy of the informant. The SP added that the cooperation of the people was needed in order to maintain the prevailing peace in Garo Hills.

Deputy Commissioner SC Sadhu called upon all line departments to visit interior areas and build friendly relations with the people.
