GUWAHATI, Feb 27 - A team of Dibrugarh Police today quizzed former Congress Minister Gautam Roy for more than four hours on his role in the cash-for-jobs scam in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).

Roy has again been asked to appear before the investigating officer again onMarch 18for further questioning.

A few hours after Roy was allowed to leave, investigators went on to file the up-to-date status report of the ongoing investigation before the Court of Special Judge, Assam here.

After receipt of the status report in a sealed envelope from the investigating officer Surjeet Singh Panesar, the Court fixedFebruary 28 (tomorrow) as the date for passing the appropriate order in the matter.

Earlier, Roy was grilled at the Special Operation Unit (SOU) police station at the Assam Polices Special Branch headquarters here by the investigating team from11 am, after which his statements were recorded.

Sources divulged that Roy has been summoned again to corroborate facts and circumstances.

When contacted, Special Public Prosecutor Bijon Kumar Mahajan told this reporter that Roy has been brought within the ambit of investigation and as the investigation is at a very nascent stage, it would be premature to comment any further.

He has of course been asked to appear before the investigating office onMarch 18again. At this point of time, it is difficult to state whether he is a witness or an accused. Only time will tell, Mahajan said.

Roy, meanwhile, refrained from speaking anything before the media after coming out from the SB headquarters at Kahilipara.
